Student Organizations

Student organizations are an excellent way to demonstrate involvement and leadership during your undergraduate years. Below is a list of some of the clubs and organizations that can help you connect with other students in your area of interest.

Coalition of Pre-Health Students

The goal of CPHS (Coalition of Pre-Health Students) is to unite the Pre-Health community at Pitt and serve as a collective voice to further the combined aspirations, efforts, and objectives of all Pre-Health organizations.

American Medical Student Association - Pre-Medical Chapter

The American Medical Student Association's Pre-Medical Chapter is dedicated to helping pre-medical students at Pitt succeed and reach their goal of becoming medical professionals. It provides its members with an academic guidance, help in clinical and research opportunities, and support of a community of peers needed to be successful.

American Red Cross Club

The American Red Cross Club provides students with a direct connection with the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Red Cross and gives them opportunities to volunteer at blood drives, food drives, and various others locations around Pittsburgh.

American Chemical Society

The University of Pittsburgh chapter of the American Chemical Society has more than 50 undergraduate students, and focuses on outreach teaching children the importance and fun of chemistry. Pitt ACS has been involved with National Chemistry Week at the Carnegie Science Center, YCC Chemistry Carnival, and Saturday Science.

Biomedical Engineering Society

The mission of the BMES is to build and support the biomedical engineering community, locally, nationally and internationally, with activities designed to communicate recent advances, discoveries, and inventions; promote education and professional development; and integrate the perspectives of the academic, medical, governmental, and business sectors.

Neuroscience Club

The Neuroscience Club provides an opportunity not just for neuroscience majors, but for all interested Pitt students to learn more about the fascinating field of neuroscience, by hosting events such as guest lectures from Pitt Medical School faculty, presentations about neuroscience technology, informative discussions about the application process to medical school and other graduate school programs, and regular group study sessions.

Global Medical Brigades

Global Medical Brigades is an international movement of students and medical professionals working alongside local communities and staff to implement sustainable health systems. It works in remote, rural, and under resourced communities in Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua and Ghana who would otherwise have limited to no access to health care.

Pre-Medical Organization For Minority Students

The University of Pittsburgh's Pre-Medical Organization for Minority Students is a means of engagement for students from underrepresented populations in the medical field.

Phi Delta Epsilon International Medical Fraternity

Phi Delta Epsilon is a close knit co-ed medical fraternity of students with educational, social, and service activities, as well as an outstanding track record of its alumni matriculating into medical school.

Alpha Epsilon Delta

Alpha Epsilon Delta is health pre-professional honor society for undergraduate students interested in health professions, such as medicine, dentistry, podiatry, optometry, physical therapy, and physician’s assistant. It is open to students of any major.

Pitt HOSA: Future Health Professionals

Pitt HOSA provides programming and events for future health professionals.

Pitt Dental Science Club

The Pitt Dental Science Club assists students in preparing applications for dental school and provides pre-dental community with informative lectures, research, and volunteer opportunities around campus.

Microbiology And Immunology Diversity (MID) Scholars Program

The purpose of the Microbiology and Immunology Diversity Scholars Program is to engage underrepresented minority (URM) undergraduate students (scholars), enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh, to consider careers in science, medicine and public health, provide exposure to biomedical and/or public health research and enhance the research capabilities of underrepresented minorities in research.

Pitt Pre-Physician Assistant Association

The Pitt Pre-Physician Assistant Association spreads awareness about the physician assistant profession and serves as an outlet for undergraduate students pursuing a career as a PA-C. Meetings are held bi-weekly, and the organization announces the topics of discussion for their meetings via their social media page and e-mail.

Medical Student Pride Alliance

The Medical Student Pride Alliance is a national organization that exists to support the success of current and future LGBTQ+ medical students throughout their education and careers by fostering community, connecting members, and providing resources.
